Using Dress-Up to Expand Career Exposure

07/15/2008 09:24

Researcher, Catlett (1992) noticed that when children came to school dressed up as a careerist, she saw mostly attorneys, doctors, teachers, and nurses. She questioned whether some careers are invisible to children. One idea would be to have dress-up day in which the teacher forbids students to pick these standard careers which encourages career exploration.
